My mother had a tough run with credit and had to file bankruptsy a few years ago. She has paid it off and got approved for a new car lease with a larger downpayment. I was thinking about adding her as an authorized user to some of my cards but i want to make sure it will not hurt me at all. I will not actually give her a card to use just let her build some positive credit history. Will this have ANY negative effect on my credit scores?
As long as she doesn't have access to the card(s) you add her onto it won't affect you.

+1 Her credit will not overflow into yours. Also, yours will not overflow to hers. You will just share this account with the exception, if it goes bad, you can just remove her from the account.
FYI, with the new FICO scoring models, piggybacking doesn't work as it has in the past.
