How do I increase my score?

Hello, I currently have a median score of 594, I would like to move within this year but I am unsure of how to increase my score I have paid my 2 credit cards down to a balance of $10.00 I paid off a collection from a cell phone... Paid student loans on time.  What else can I do?

Do you have any credit cards?

I closed my cards in 2008 and my score was in the crapper.  I read through this forum and found that it's important to have a few CCs to show revolving trade lines.

With my EQ FICO score of 552 on 8/13/2012, I applied for WalMart and Capital One secured and was approved for both.  They are now reporting.

My score is now 600 as of 9/2/2012.  However, I had two car loan accounts update to paid and closed as well.

If you don't have any CC's, I strongly suggest WalMart and Cap1.  Search "Rebuilding your Credit" and specifically find info on the WalMart card.

If you do have CC's, then pay down your balances to within 1%-9% of your credit limits.  Having low balances is the golden ticket.

At 594 you have negative accounts on your CR.   You need to take these and tackle them.  Form a game plan and set goals.   Post your info of the accounts on here, leave out details, name,, acct. #, etc. and let's see what we can do.
