I have a collection which says date open 10/1/2011 for a medical bill that I believe my insurance should have covered. Does anyone know how far back insurance companys will go to pay for a medical bill?"

I dont believe they were billed. Its a low amount of money I was in the process of sending the CA a PFD, I talked to a rep on the phone and they told me they dont do that but would not let me talk to a supervisor so maybe a formal letter will be better.

Hippa privacy law: the entry may not be removed but they have to remove identifiying info expample creditor " Holy Name Hospital Cancer Center" <----- the refernce to Cancer Center violates hippa.
Yes this is true. Or any reference that could tell others what type of procedure you had or somehow identify an illness.
But having a collection for a medical bill is not in and of itself, a violation of HIPAA.
