It will stay on your credit report for 7 years a judgment is 10 years.
You can always try to send goodwill letters to have it deleted earlier.
1. How much was it for?
2. What was it for? medical, cell phone landlord, etc?
3. When you say 9 months old what do you mean? Did you pay it 9 months ago did you pay yesterday did it go on your report 9 months ago and you paid it 1 month ago?

It will affect your scores more in the first two years, then it will lessen somewhat, but it will hold your scores down for the entire 7 years its on your report.
I think it's important to point out that there are multiple threads that discuss paid medical collections having a lesser impact on you FICO score, especially if they are a small $ amount. There is also a lot available online about medical collections and FICO 9.
