I started another thread a couple days ago and got some help and think Im on my way to rebuilding my credit. That being said, Iv started my disputes, sent GW and validation letters and even sent a PFD letter.
So it got me thinking, what could my score be if I cleaned it all up? Or even cleaned some of it up? I got myfico score and it is very low and only 498, and tried playing around with the simulator a little and if I do nothing but pay my existing bills on time, it will take 1-2 years for any serious increase. 2 years says will be 568-608 range.
It says best course of action is to pay down 90-100% of my credit card debt (which i dont really have any, only a charged off Discover) would be 628-668.
Heres where I stand (29 total lates, 1 credit card charged off $5500 balance, 3 collections)
1. Currently the only open credit lines I have is my home and auto loans. Both have lates (16 total combined in last 7 years). I sent GW letters to both 2 days ago!
2. Just applied and approved for $200 secured card with Capital One, its being mailed. Not sure how much this will help, but its a start!
3. Old mortgage company (GMAC) before it was transfered to new company has 10 lates back in 2007 and 2008 ranges. I didnt sent GW letter, but disputed with CB
in hopes they will just ignore since they dont own the loan anymore
4. Old auto loan (Cap One) has 3 lates dating back to 2009-2010.. again, disputed with CB hoping they wont respond
5. collection for old TXU energy bill. Balance is only $181 and I called and they said if i pay, they will remove from credit. So Im going to do this this month
6. collection for an old broken lease apartment when my wife and I split up for about 6 months. Balance is $3800 and when I called about a year ago, they said they would delete if I did a PFD, but not a payment plan. Dont recall the settlement offer, but I sent a PFD again yesterday for $500. Im sure its too low, but its a start and see what they say
7. collection for an old ATT uverse bill. $288 balance and they said they wont do a PFD, i sent a validation letter 2 days ago
8. Discover card charge off $5500 balance. Said they will settle for $4000, but wont remove from credit. Its been 2 years and my SOL is 4 years. I have tried disputing in the past and wasnt removed.
so what do you guys think? Obviously first thing is the new credit card from CapOne, i will try and only charge like 1 tank a gas a month and pay it off, continue to pay my bills on time... Then pay off the TXU collection.. Those 2 are guarnteed. After that, Im not sure? What do you think just those 2 things will do to my 498 score? Then HOPEFULLY some of those lates will be removed... IM thinking if majority of those are removed, could help quite a bit, dont you?
Then it comes down to the Discover card, apartment and ATT collections. I dont realy have the money to settle with the discover, and not really the apartment either unless its alot less than balance. So i figure Ill start with the $288 ATT. pay them off in full and try for GW letters. Then try for the apartment next, see if they can maybe work something out in payments and then GW them??
also, not sure if anyone knows anything about or has had success with these guys, but the ATT collection agency is Enhanced Recovery Company (they are ones who said will not delete) and collection agency for the apartment is RentDebt (when i spoke to them a while back, said they would delete if i paid a one time payment, but not if I did a payment arangement).
AT&T / EOS is pretty easy. How old is this debt? They sold mine off (for equipment that was returned), within 6 months. I paid the new CA and EOS immediately deleted after my BBB filing. Now to fight AT&T, lol...for $99 it was worth it.
the ATT debt from Enhanced Recovery Co is a brand new collection agency that just showed up in December. The original debt is about a year old though. It was with another collection agency first, and I disputed it with the CBs and it was removed. Now it showed up with this ERC (but not on TU). I called them to find out what it is and said i dont know what it is, but if i paid, would you remove from my credit and they said no, they dont do that and basically hung up on me. So I sent them a validation letter certified 2 days ago.
1) Keep on-time and the lates will get behind you. In the meantime, goodwill them
2) GREAT! It IS a start! Pay on-time
3) These lates are getting old, so goodwill them and see if that will help
4)
5) Do IT! This removal is a good thing!
6) Keep working the PFD....as this gets older, the settlement may get better!
7) Shouldn't be difficult, please see my above post
8)
Time is your friend! I think it's great that you're here asking for help and taking responsibility. That shows a LOT.
sorry, not following. What do you mean, put myfico on the Cap1 and only that?
so anyone have any guesses on what my score might go up to if I just get the new CapOne card and get the TXU removed?
Then what about if I get some of the lates removed?
then the ATT collection?
If EOS won't do a PFD, I wouldn't pay them (I didn't). They sold to another Ca, I paid them. Filed BBB and they deleted.
CapOne those 30 days lates are over 2 years..I don't believe they're affecting your scores.
