I have a collection for a t-mobile account that is over 1 year old. It was reporting on just one credit report but it recently vanished. I am assuming that it might have been sold. If I were to pay t-mobile directly, would that prevent a new collection agency from putting it on my reports if it has been paid? Any ideas??/

I think it's worth a shot. Have you contacted them and asked if they will accept payment?

I contacted them about 6 months ago and they would then. My question is.....would a collection agency still be able to put it on my report...even as paid??

If they had collection permission at one point, then yes. However more than likely they wouldn't. The OC would cancel the assignment and they would have no more authority to collect.
