How to find debt collectors?

I had a 3 credit cards go to collection. I paid them off with collection agency in full. Do I write GW letter to credit cards or collection agency? Next question is, How do I find their addresses so I can write a GW letter. Thank you!

The easiest way to track down information about a Collection Agency is Google.  If search the name of the company, find their website, then search for email addresses which use their domain name by searching "email @collagency.com"

Also, search here for the term (CA) PFD success or (CA) Goodwill success where (CA) is the name of the collector.

Good luck!

Re: How to find debt collectors?

If they reported to a CRA, the CRA should have their address.  It is a required reporting field.

Additinally, any credit reporting or other collection activity required sending of dunning notice, which must include contact information in order to permit the consumer to request debt validation.  Do you have a copy of their dunning notice?

Re: How to find debt collectors?

Once you find the names to the collection agencies, I would try looking them up on the state website of collectors.  I think each state has a list of agencies that are authorized to collect in their state.  If they are not bonded to collect in your state, you can use that as a tool to get your negative accounts removed.

^ good call.  Also, how can you not know the names?  If you haven't already done so, go to annualcreditreport.com and pull your 3 free reports.  If the CA is not on there, and you already paid, there's no problem.
