Is it safe to deposit money in collection company bank account to settle a debt?

In my limited experience you want a paper trail. I wouldn't do it.

Certified check is highly recommended. It leaves a paper trail, but they don't have access to any of your account information, be it checking account, debit or credit card number, etc.
