How to pay off collections?

I have 3 collection accounts that I would like to pay off. Should I pay through the CA or try to payoff through the orginal account holder? (of possible). Would one way be better than the other? They are all right around 3 yrs old

Re: How to pay off collections?

It varies, depending upon who now owns the debt, which party or parties have reported to a CRA, what, if any, reporting you seek deleted as a condition for payment, and the SOL status of the debt.

Stragegies vary based on those primary factors.

On that forum there is a lot of info about different ways to do this. WHen I rebuilded, I basically did everything based on the info there. Good stuff.
