Disputing with a CRA will temporarily suspend that TL from being calculated into your credit score. This is the reason why Loan Officers for mortgage companies require all disputes to be closed while applying for a mortgage. As for what Best Buy will do, I am not sure. They are now backed by Citi now so I can't speak as to what users have reported in prior years.
Difficult to give a direct answer to this. Filing a dispute for anything they receive is a tactic that's common with creditors just to try to get rid of you. Oh,, we will file a dispute, they water it down, send in the dispute and then verify the information is accurate. Wash, rinse repeat.

I called the Best Buy customer service line and asked whom could I speak to about getting my 30 day late removed. The CRS said she could send a letter to the CRB's saying that my account was in good standing and one to me but I think she said there was a possibility it could be categorized as a dispute. I don't think I want a dispute. What does a dispute on my CR mean ? Aren't disputes bad ? Am I going to then have to dispute, the claim that I filed a dispute ? I just went on another avenue to possibly get a goodwill adjustment on my best buy account. I literally said "this is not a dispute, just asking for a goodwill adjustment". Soooo what should I expect ???
UPDATE: Recieved a letter in the mail from Best Buy officially saying they can not investigate my issue because they did not control my account at the time.
Also said I should just dispute the Capital One tradeline with all three Credit bureaus. It's this normal for them to ask me to do ? Capital One says they don't control this account and now so does CitiBank. Is my 30 day late just somewhere in credit limbo ?
How old is the 30 day late? Is it affecting your credit now?
Since it's that current, you're still feeling a sting from it. 30 day lates are minor derogs, they hit hard at first, but lose their sting pretty quickly. After a year, they lose a lot of it and after 2 years, mostly gone. I have 5 30 day lates still on my TU and it's not affecting my scores.
The dispute thing isn't a killer, you can get disputes removed, so it's not a bad thing. Have you ever just contacted the lender and ask if they will GW it off?
Yes, tried the EO office, they informed me, that this particular account was sold off. It's stupid Capital One, which is now a Citi account. I don't know which way it's up with this thing.
