I need help rebuiling!

I am trying to rebuild my credit after losing my job a few years back.  I am now back on my feet financially but it's been hard moving past the credit blemishes. I am open to any and all advice to net the best increases. Here's the run down:

Should I open more cards? I'm at a lost here. Ex Fico is at 600. It won't really move much. I paid off charge off and I dropped 10 points due to no revolving balances. (I normally pay off wells cc in full each month...) I thought charge off was being factored in utilization and that I would see an increase after payoff, but I didnt. Idk what to do. I need/want like 40 more points for mortgage...where do I start??

Yes, you need to establish at least two more revolving accounts. I would try Cap One first since you have paid them off.

Ok. Even though I just paid them off a few weeks ago? Any other back suggestions?

Other options would be a secured card from SDFCU, or other credit union. If you have two years of CC payment history you could also try Barclays.

Re: I need help rebuiling!

Yes get 2 other revolving accts even if they are secured.

But I noticed you have a handful of medical collections. The ones that are unpaid - you can get those off your credit report 100%. Google remove medical collections using HIPAA and follow the steps in that process. Will any of your collection accounts pay for delete? That will be the easiest and fastest in the short term.
