If MyFico doesn't have a "negative indicator," can it still be bad?

I have an old charged off OC HSBC/Best Buy.

On EQ there is a flag. On the current status of TU, it says "Bad debt/collection."

On TU there is no flag. On the current status of TU, it says "Payment after charge off/collection."

I get the feeling that this account might be holding my score down on TU, but I don't want to risk it because it's coded the same way on EXP as well.

Is there a way to determine how the account is affecting my score on TU and EXP beyond this? I am not attacking it at this point because it would lower my AAOA and would only benefit 1 report (My EQ).

Don't think of it as a "bump."

Think of it more as more of a "nudge" or "loving reminder."

If it has a charged~off/collection status then yes I believe it would be counted as a negative, even if the red flag isn't showing.

Re: If MyFico doesn't have a "negative indicator," can it still be bad?

I have one of those too. There's a nuanced difference in how it's reported.

No red flag is better. I had a baddie change in the comment details and the red flag was removed and my score increased considerably....28 points! It's tricky in terms of what to do. My case involves Verizon. I had been disputing it for months. When I faxed a higher-up for a GW, they called me to inform that it they couldn't remove the account...but then my report updated without the red flag and my score went up.

It's hard to say what to do about it. In my case, I have been tryintg to get a GW deletion and I can't get it. But while on the phone, I kindly asked if they could ensure that all 3 report with the desired details....to kinda throw me a consolation prize. She claimed Verizon reported it in the more favorable way on 4/17 but Equifax still has the bad version. I asked for her number to call back if it doesn't change after a reasonable amount of time. But yes, it can backfire because they could fix them all to report the bad way.

The absence of the red flag on mine works so that it doesn't acknowledge the deliquency on the time span since last missed payment/deliquency.

That's it. Once the dispute comment goes away, then it'll be fully scored and the annoying red flag will return.

Wow. Thanks buddy.

So I guess it's full-on attack mode again.

Re: If MyFico doesn't have a "negative indicator," can it still be bad?

Mambo,

Did the red flags return?

I am experiencing the same issue you had here. I'm concerned that the red flags will return and bring down my current score.

Current Bureau Scores: EQ Beacon 5.0: 682 | TU FICO Classic 04: 740 | EX FICO V2: 706
