Yeah, I think that will come up as a major issue. :/ I think I had closed the account (reported as lost/stolen) at a certain point and that's where the split happened, allowing for relative to reopen and go on using it as if she were me. So I wasn't even expecting to get statements in the mail, but the card was still active.
