Hello everyone, I am new to post. I have pulled my credit report and scores from myfico.com. Transunion is 583 and Equifax is 603. (went up to 607 after a credit card was paid off). My problem is I have several dings on report including 2 house tax liens, both within last 6 months. Some are old bills that are paid off and still show a balance, one is a foreclosure that shows a balance but not foreclosure. One is a credit card years ago that I do not remember having. Maybe it was bought out and balance never transferred. How do I start the right process to dispute these items? I want to improve credit score to at least 750

Since your questions are about "fixing" your credit, I'm moving your post to the Rebuilding Your Credit forum. Good luck!

I'd suggest reading the following:
Common Abbreviations
Credit Scoring 101 - great for knowing what is in your credit score and to see how your score is impacted.
What Steps Do I Take - great for learning the repair process.
and Example letters - PFDs, GWs, DVs, etc.
I'll defer to others on the tax liens, but I guess if I had them, and they were accurate, I would PIF ASAP. Then once it reports as paid, then I'd contact the agency in charge of reporting (e.g. your county recorder, or whoever is reporting it) and ask them if they could remove it. IRS, for example, now has a policy of removing paid liens. Maybe this entity would be open to that too.
For the old bills, follow the Steps link above. It depends on who and what is reporting. If it is an OC, for example, then you can always contact them and ask them to update if paid. You can always do so via a GW letter and include in there a request for deletion if the account isn't old or among your oldest accounts. If it is a CA, and you have proof you paid it, then send a GW asking them to delete.
For the forclosure, has the house been sold yet? It's my understanding they won't report is as $0 until the home is sold.
For the CC, if a negative, call the CCC and ask them for the last couple of statements. If they are not reporting, then call them anyway and DV the CA.
I suggest not disputing. If legit, it'll make it that much harder to get removed. If not legit, you have only one shot via disputing and it is better to directly work with the OC/CA vs. revealing that last card. And in some situations, you wouldn't want the OC items removed anyway.
Yes the house has been sold. One of the cc bills I m not sure is mind. I have never applied for a Chase card. On the Experian Report, it states paid and last activity date was 2003 and Equifax last activity was 2005, but has a balance of 1202. The house reports as paid with no foreclosure on Experian. Why are they different? I am sure these two things will improve my score if taken off. Also should I say the house was a foreclosure or just dispute the balance?
