In all honesty I would do a 1-2 punch. I would DV the CA via CMRRR (the jab). This is NOT a bona fide collection and it can't hurt to do so, though I don't think this collection is doing much damage to scores. Once the DV is received by the CA, dispute with the CRAs (the knockout; false crack medivac) as not yours. IMHO, snafus by OCs never make any collection legit, period!
OK, she said cautiously, so the timing is to DV the CA with a CMRRR, and once I get the green card/ receipt back, then dispute with the CRA's again as "not mine." Yes?
BTW, in terms of the non-damage, DH has an 800 on EX (no collection), 714 on EQ, and 724 on TU. So I'm thinking it does have an impact!

You asked on the other posting, if they re-aged it. No, it still shows DOFD as 2002.(unless that isnt' the DOFD)
Thanks, sidewinder! I keep telling people that I'm a complete newbie on collections. I saw the Feb 08 and Apr 08 entries and nearly stroked out. Glad you were able to read it clearly. So I guess that's why his EQ score didn't change one way or another.
edit to add: When I first started calling around about this junk, I asked the OC about pulling back the collection. They acted as if they had never heard of such a thing, and that they were clueless how to do this. This was before the insurance company confirmed that the OC screwed up in the first place.
So this is definitely a fall-back option! thanks
