Is It Worth a Shot?

I had an account w/a credit union that had a negative balance that went unpaid the account was placed w/a collection agency CBSI.  Is it worth a shot for me to call the branch & explain that I was out of work & that's why it went unpaid but now that I'm back at work I can pay it w/hopes of opening my account again?  So far I've sent the CA a DV letter but have received nothing from them yet but they did update my CR w/something saying the consumer disagrees.  I would really like the account w/the credit union back b/c it's always good to have an account w/one.

Advice anyone?

IMO it's worth asking. Talk to the CU. All they can do is say no.

From a BK years ago to:
EX - 9/09 pulled by lender 802
EQ - 7/06-663, 3/10-800
TU - 8/10-772
You can do the same thing with hard work

Re: Is It Worth a Shot?

If you can, please go into the CU in person, dressed very nicely (professionally) and offer them cash to pay off the debt.  (Get a receipt!)

You may need to see the branch manager.  Pay the debt first, then ask about opening an account.
