This is the only baddie on my CR:
GM Financial
Status as of: 10/2012
Date opened: 11/2000
Date of Last Activity: 2/2006
Worst Delinquency: Bad Debt/collection
Since the Date of Last Activity is 2/2006, can I expect it to age off my report in February? If not, I'd want to DV, then PFD oit. If it ages off, how long does it actually take before you see the change on your report? Thanks!
The DOFD is what sets the clock for the CRTP for it's exclusion. I would assume it would be sometime before the DOLA.
Is this an OC account reporting a collection referral, or a collection reported by a debt collector?
The DOFD triggers the 7 to 7.5 year clock for negative lines to fall off. Since the DOLA is 2/2006 the latest it can stay on would be 9/2013. Did you ever do business with GMAC, they didn't just do car loans...
Worst case wait until September and if it hasn't fallen off dispute to the CRAs as too old. The credit report you copied this from, or your free annual credit report should tell you the DOFD. If it's seven years or more from DOFD try disputing as "too old", again written, CMRRR.
You could dispute it now as "not mine" if a DOLA of 2/06 is out of SOL. Do it in writing CMRRR, not online.
DV doesn't really apply as this appears to be an original creditor, but you could contact them (again be sure of SOL) to see what it is and why they claim you owe it. Again I would mail a letter CMRRR, the credit report should supply a contact address.
I just pulled my TU today through MyFICO and the DOFD isn't shown. My EQ, ordered from EQ via Scorewatch does show DOFD.
Can you pull your free annual credit report (or do you have a copy of the one you pulled within the past 12 months), it will show there?
If you haven't already, you can get a free credit report from each CRA once a year. Go to annualcreditreport.com. You will be able to get much more information on your CR there.
