I was unemployed for a period of time in 2004 and again in 2006 and I have been working to repair my credit since. I had a vehicle repossessed sometime in mid 2004 and since I wasn't employed at the time, they never went after me for the balance left on the car but it stayed on my credit report until recently when it finally dropped off when the time limit expired. However, it has recently re-appeared on 2 of my credit reports, this time it still shows the original purchase date of the car in 2003 but now it shows the first deliquent date as April 2012. Can I dispute this and hopefully have it removed? It seems to be re-aged because the deliquent date would have been in 2004 when I became unemployed.
You should dispute by letter sent Certified Mail to the CRA's (Not return receipt). It is up to the CRA's to keep track of DOFD. Always keep copies of old credit reports for issues like this in case they fight you.
Good Luck.
Who put it on your CR? I would do a direct dispute with whoever listed it on your CR as reaging the account.
Good news! I disputed it with both TransUnion and Equifax and it was removed last week from both reports.
Nice! Good work!
