Is it good to join to credit units or is one enough, will it help at all

Do you mean credit unions?  It wouldn't hurt you to belong to more than one.  Some often are members of more than one.  It just depends on your circumstance as to whether it is actually beneficial.

There's an article I read about having multiple bank/credit union accounts. Reason being that if something goes wrong with one of your accts (fraud victim, dispute, bank goes under, etc) you will have the other to fall back on.

I personally have 2 credit unions and my main bank. Most of my money is in the bank but there's a bit of emergency cash in the other two accts.

I've had my bank ATM card compromised twice and it's a pain when those fraudsters take you.
