Just Making Sure on Charged Off Account before Contacting Them

I just want to make sure I understand things correctly before contacting their credit reporting department at a company...

I have a charged off CC (yes, I am 100% sure they do not own it anymore) that still shows a balance amount and a past due amount.  Interestingly enough, the past due amount keeps going up by $53 each month.  From my understanding, if an account is truly charged off then it should reflect a $0 balance and a $0 past due amount.

I just want to understand their reporting requirements before I contact them.

Thank you for your help.

My CO is reporting $0 balance and $0 past due and nothing has changed since it was COed back in 2007.  So, yes, I think your understanding of a truly COed account is correct.  Not sure what's going on with yours.

Re: Just Making Sure on Charged Off Account before Contacting Them

Thank you for your response.  I thought it was the case, but I just wanted to make sure before I sent all my paperwork off to them and then to look like a fool if I was not correct.

The amount is killing my utilization, so it will be nice to have it taken off.
