Just got an alert that Midland Credit ran my credit

Midland Credit Management ran my social without my permission... how can they legally do this? What should I do?

It's possible that they just purchased a bad debt from one of your creditors.

Do you have any charged off credit accts that you still owe a balance on?

This was a small medical balance that was already paid off. There is an inquiry on my report from them. 

Are collection companies allowed to run your credit without consent?

Yes, unfortunately CAs are allowed to do a hard inquiry without your consent. (Yes I know its like being sexually harassed with no laws to protect you). I was flipping about this last year when it happened to me (3 different times !).

How old is the debt they are trying to collect?  Depending on the DOFD there may be the possibility of fighting them on the inquiry.
