Ok I am so very upset right now we are working our butts off to get pre approved for a home loan for a new house we hired a credit speicialist and was able to recieve every item removed that was a collection but 2 and 1 being fine as paid ect from 2008 the other JUST hit the reports last summer (August 2011)  we spoke with our loan officer and we are RIGHT where we need to be score wise but we MUST get this AFNI paid and it would really help if it was removed not just updated (old at&t account) we have sent numerous PFD letters via email and forst a DV letter! The man answered he then transferred me to a women they were very polite but refuse to delete the debt HOWEVER she did say "maybe after you pay you may be able to work something out with the credit reports to have this deleted but we cannot offer a pfd" I then told her that this says disputed on our reports and it was the doing of an ex spouse and if we really wanted to we could get this removed with hard work (which is a fib, it has been verified but we are disputing again) they are no help and this is the ONLY thing holding us back from a preapproval SO what do we do?? Just pay the settlement amount and cross our fingers that it won't hurt our score? If it just hit last summer would it really hurt the scores if paid and updated as settled? THANK YOU for your replies!

They told me the same thing...  so I contacted AT&T and paid in full.  Then, I sent a dispute letter to the CB and it was deleted.  But be careful, sometimes you can't get a home loan with an open dispute on your CR, so do it by mail, not online (30 days instead of 45).  If it doesn't work, at least it will be a 0 balance.

I sent a PFD below to AFNI via the recovery email, got a response in 5 days.

AFNI, INC.
ADDRESS OFF CR
BLOOMINGTON IL 61701

To Whom It May Concern:

This is in no way a dispute or argument towards a debt!
I sent a letter, certified mail: ( 7010 1060 0001 XXXX XXXX ) that was delivered on June 17, 2011.

It is in regards to an entry on my credit report associated with your company.

My now ex-husband had an account with Fairpoint Online that went to collections for $128.  I was contacted during my divorce with him by your company about a debt. Because I did not want to have any outstanding debt with the upcoming divorce, and my overall point of view that if money is owed, then it should be paid,  I paid the $128 promptly (as you can see by the collection only being open ONE month) with the agreement that by paying it in full, it would be removed from my credit report.

After 3 months, the item was still not removed from all my credit reports.  I have spoken to representatives of your company who agreed to have it removed from your credit reports. I have spoken to them on 10/7/2009, 4/15/2010, 10/14/2010, 1/13/2011 and 3/17/2011 and each time when I’ve called they’ve informed me that it is “in process”.  I can submit phone records showing these phone calls to you.

I have perfect credit with no delinquencies.  My new husband is active military and we are trying to refinance our house to prepare for him going overseas and this delinquency is hurting our chances to getting our new loan.

I respectfully ask for this to be removed from my credit history as it is paid in full and it was agreed that it would be removed from my credit report.  I was polite, paid immediately when I received the phone call and did not argue.  Your representative even noted that it was nice to work with someone who respected them and did not yell or scream (I worked in collections at a financial institution for years, so I know how hard it can be).

I would like this removed as soon as possible from my credit report because a) it is not my debt, however I paid it to protect my credit score and b) it was agreed to be removed. This is greatly appreciated.

So I paid it I settled it today however the supervisor who also says HE is the one that handles all E-mails sent in says no matter what he will not delete he basically told me I would have to get someone else and in order to do so I would have to send in a letter and not email. Need it to be done in 30 days though! They also recorded me saying I no longer wish to dispute this collection so the dispute will be removed

I have already sent in 5 PFD letters via E-mail, so if this was your account you would just pay it?

If I were up against the wire for a mortgage or something like that, then I'd pay it and start GWing them. I'd pay it because the odds of it being deleted now, in this situation, are greater after paying it versus sending PFDs until I was blue in the face. If I was out of time, I'd PIF.

It's really pointless to ask these questions over the phone because they are told and programmed to tell you that they will not and have never deleted before..Which you know is totally untrue.Don't believe any of that.I was told the same thing. You should not mention anything about an email. The recording doesn't matter.Send the GW letter just like llecs and I have advised. You may be pleasantly surprised with the results.

The person who responded to my email to AFNI was a woman, so I believe your supervisor was just blowing smoke.

Send the email GW letter. They will respond very fast and you can always continue to try with another GW letter if that doesn't work.By snail mail,fax.etc.The email should do the trick. Is there a reason why you don't want to send the email?
