Last one reporting on DH's TU is a city water bill by the CA.
DH was never on the bill - only in my name. (No longer reporting on mine and I don't know why!)
I called CA today and explained DH was never on the account, and was told by CSR #1 that she would have deleted.
I called water co next to make sure DH wasn't on bill, told city that that CA is evil, the City called CA to say DH was never on the bill, and was told it would be deleted, City called me back to tell me they confirmed this and I don't have to worry anymore.
Later today get call from CSR #2 - "If you were married at the time then he is responsible, blah blah" . I cut her off and say "So, you want me to call the City and tell them you lied to them?" She says "OH WOW, let me get my boss."
I hung up. (I know the boss and he and I have had battle of the wits for almost a year). The last one reporting for ME is from them, a 37.00 medical.
I'm just hoping that by being such an awful person they delete so I go away.
Am I right in that he isn't responsible? I'm calling the City back tomorrow to tell them they conveniently changed their minds, lying to us both. (I told CSR #2 that he never signed a financial agreement and they are full of it).
Thoughts? Comments? Concerns? Feedback???

I don't believe that this is true, at least in the states where I have lived. If it was then you would be held liable for CCs incurred by your spouse and vice~versa. If he never signed a contract with the water company then they can't bill him, nor can a CA come after him.
The only exception I can think of might be if you live in a community property state, but I don't know if that carries over to debts incurred by one spouse.

that's interesting!!! Are you in a community property state?
I live in NV which is community property and I know that our utilities are in my husband's name only which even prevented me from calling them to discuss (prior to him putting me on the "it's okay, she's my wife" list).
I would think you have a valid arguement but I have a feeling RobertEG will be far more informative than me
(his posts are always so informational it puts me to shame lol)

Booner iread some of your earlier posts and I feel for you. This is constructive critisim take a couple of days off you are getting to postal. Its not that I dont agree with you I do! But this credit shuffle is like a drug. and right now your oding. Step back take a deep breath, get off the computer and relax with DH. This can wait until tommorow . Sometimes you have to step back to see the picture. I mean this with
plz dont be offended. I know your in the final stretch and you can taste it, but I think you may do more harm then good this second. The whole bull about CAs wrecking havoc on your life your soul don't allow them they make like 7 dollars an hour and like you said (cant even write an address on an envelope properly.) Chill mama tommorow is another day.

I also don't believe this is true. "If you were married at the time then he is responsible, blah blah"
When my husband and I were first married, I tried calling both the gas company and our internet service provider. Gas company - I wanted to discuss the charge to move our gas meter and if it could be added to our bill. Internet service provider - I wanted to discuss changing our service from dial up to high speed. The reps at both companies stated that it was not my account and I could not be given any account information. My husband had to personally go to both companies and to sign papers to add my name to the accounts.

Thanks, All. NOT a community property state.
@annielorie- You are hilarious, and also totally correct! Definite overdose. I am thinking of just seeing what happens, but also want to City to know that they did lie, and I don't want to wait too long so they forget that I called, etc.
Got a busy morning - so I'll see what happens.
Ha ha Annie - so funny!

Called City back and spoke to lady from yesterday. Apparently CA called her back, too. She said CA said that "a bunch of different collections are tied together." (NO EXCUSE!!!!!! And there are no other collections except this one on his, and the 37.00 on mine....the rest are gone....???)
I have a letter to the city just explaining what happened, how I'm sorry for not paying, but that they should be aware that this CA violates FDCPA and a copy of DH"s TU report showing that this is the only collection reporting. But not sure if I even want to send it in. Should even bother?
Did file BBB complaint.
