Hey guys! I just want to know if there is a general rule of thumb when offering a settlement number? Do you start with 10% ? Is that insulting? For example: I have the follwing debt: See below. Will sending a PFD for $16.oo be insulting? Would you work with that? Just want some opinions on what would be a good starting number to offer. Thanks in Advance!

Think about it this way...who's really got the upper hand on a $161 collection? If you want to make it go away, you have to offer enough for them to WANT to make it go away. For a PFD on an amount like this, I'd be offering 100% - but that's just me.
I am dealing with a collection from Comcast through Credit Management. I offered multiple amounts and they sent a response to a full PFD saying they would delete upon payment. They are only a collection agency making a percentage on what they collect, they do not own the debt. Good luck.
Thank you for the advice. I will take that into consideration when offering them an amount.
