HELP! I paid Brachfeld Law Group a settlement amount for an account they were handling on LVNV/Resurgent’s behalf. I didn’t have time to do PFD’s and all that; I’m in the middle of the mortgage loan process and just wanted it paid. Brachfeld sent me a letter saying that the amount I paid settled the account in full. LVNV is still reporting on my credit report. I contact Resurgent and they tell me that the debt is paid, but can’t give me any further info (letters, etc…). My mortgage company has to have something from Resurgent/LVNV stating that there is a 0 balance on the account…I need this info like yesterday, but am having zero luck getting in touch with anyone. Any recommendations? Please help. Thanks!

So who is reporting to your CR? Resurgent/LVNV? Contact them again, advise them you need an immediate receipt that this debt was paid or you will contact an attorney.

LVNV is showing on the report--but LVNV doesn't handle any of their junk debt accounts, Resurgent does. It's ridiculous. I'll call and threaten some more. Funny how they can call and aggrevate the heck out of you when they want money, but once you pay them they don't want to talk. Ugh. Thanks!

If they are reporting to your CR then they are ultimately responsible.

The contact number on my credit reports is Resurgent's number; Resurgent answers when I call. It's a mess. I hate LVNV.
