Be careful about disputing ... you don't want them to redate since it so close to falling off.
Isn't it illegal to redate?
The determination of when a collection becomes excluded is made by the CRA, it is not determined by the debt collector other than by their reporting of the DOFD.
A debt collector is required to report the DOFD to the CRA within 90 days after reporting of their collection. The CRA uses that date to determine the max statutory date of 7 years plus 180 days from DOFD, and to provide any estimated exclusion date.
It is possible that the CRA simply changed their estimated exclusion date rather than the debt collector reporting a new or later DOFD.
Before disputing the estimated exclusion date, you should determine whether the reported DOFD is accurate.
