Lawyer

I came to an agreement 6 months ago to pay a judgement. A very old judgement from 07 that never even hit my reports.

The Lawyer agreed in writing a X amount of dollars for 28 months. Been making the payments as promised.

Today I received a letter from the Lawyer directing me to make all further payments to a new Law Firm because it has been transferred to the new Lawyer.

My question is, they do have to honor the agreement I had with the previous Lawyer, is this correct? And is there anything I should do to make sure they understand what the balance is, the amount of the monthly payment?

Please advise.

Re: Lawyer

Yes, the terms of your contract with the prior owner transfer with the ownership of the debt.

There is nothing special you should do, but you can send a letter stating that to be your understanding if you have concerns.
