Has anyone had any success with this collection company? They are listed on my sons credit report. Any success with PFD or GW? Please help!
Oh goodness! I will pay it then. Its actually on my son credit report. Long story short medical bill my son's father was suppose to pay. Do you think that the OC will recall the debt if asked?
If it's a medical collection, try to get the OC to pull the debt back completely from Midland and pay them directly. Otherwise, they'll just tell Midland to update the collection to paid and it will stay on for 7 years. Offering to paying in full will probably get you better results. You can try googling the HIPPA process. We can't discuss it on the boards here and the effectiveness of the HIPPA process is debatable. I've never tried it and seems confusing.
Midland is the worst. They don't play fair. I managed to get two entries off my reports by filing complaints with the cfpb and my state's general attorney.
They were not about to budge.
One question I do have is your son a minor? I ask this because you state that his dad was to have paid the bill, if he is a minor should Midland make
an entry on his CR since he wasn't the person responsible for making payment?
My son is 20. He is still on dad's health insurance because he is in college. Does that make a differece? He is not working.
I am not sure. It s worth exploring and I hope that others chime in, but it seems to me that if he doesn't have the financial responsibility for the insurance - in other words it is not under his name...why should he get the ding on his credit report? I know for my daughter when we fill out medical forms it asks who is the financial person responsible for this medical insurance....and she is also on her dad's insurance and my insurance as well since she too is in college. I almost want to say they (Midland) should be going after the dad and not your son. Not that would wish Midland on anyone because they are relentless.
I tried "PFD" few months back and didn't work. Now I don't know what to do. I have about 3500$ owed to them between two accounts. I don't want to be sued, nor want to empty savings account to pay it. Not sure what to do

He is of legal age and is the legal reponsible party for paying the debt sans insurance. A lot of this medical CA problem involving insurance is going to be going away there was a landmark settlement announced yesterday by the NY State AG you can read about it here http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-in-the-News/Credit-Bureaus-Agree-to-Overhaul-Reports/td-p/384...
I read that new decision and i wholehartedly agree with it, because often hospital billings is done by an outside company that has a working relationship with a collection agency, sometimes it behooves them to not do "all" necessary to bill the insurance. From my understanding now they have 180 days or something like that, before a
medical collection shows up on your credit report. Puts more due diligence on the hospital to get the billing done right through the insurance.
