Hi everybody. My DW has a Macy's CO that she wants to pay. Macys is reporting the CO on her CR and the account has been sent to collections. The CA doesnt report the collection. They've only sent letters and called. I told her that she doesnt have much leverage here since the CA that Macys hired to collect has no reason or authority to offer a PFD. Only Macys can delete and she will only have a chance at GW after she pays up.
Any advice on how best to deal with this ? Oh and the CA, Alliance One, doesnt accept CC payments, Only debit and check, and now she's angry that she cannot get any cash back by using a CC to pay them.

Request Macy's pull back the CO from collections in exchange for a PFD. Or just in exchange to PIF, then after the PIF, start a GW campaign.
DW called and attempted to have them recall the CA account and they wouldnt do it. Macys insists that she pay the CA. Bummer.

How many times did she try? If only once than not enough.
The debt collector can report at any time.
She might consider offering a pay for not reporting to the debt collector, and thus avoid an additional collection.

Yes, she only tried once and good point on the debt collector however they did mention they dont report. That I found very strange. The way I see it, the only reasonable way to deal with this is to try to pay Macys directly one more time, if not good, then just pay the CA and be done with it. Then, when Macys begins to report a Paid collection, she can attack them with GW letters. Thanks for the comments and tips.
