Hello. Wanted to see everyone's opinion on this. I have a medical bill for $3100, that just went to a CA. The CA sent me a dunning notice and I'm trying to work out payment arrangements with them. The CA hasn't reported anything on my credit report.
The CA told me that I must pay them 10% of the balance due each month to keep them from reporting this collections on my credit report. Does this sound right to everyone?
I'd appreciate any input. Thank you.
It may not be "right" but at $31 a month, I'd take them up on it if I could get it in writing
The payments would be $310 per month. Which is out of my budget right now. That's the issue. It's like I'm balancing between Ramen Noodles or a collection on my report. Haha.
I'm sorry - my math was incorrect. $310 is a much harder amount to swallow.
Maybe I missed it, but how old is the debt? Does the CA own the debt now or is there an OC also?
I'd contact the OC and see if they still own it and can make arrangements and recall the debt from the CA.
Is it beyond your states suing SOL?
I'm going to call the OC tomorrow and check on that. But no, it's not beyond the SOL yet.
That's solid advice, I'd bet the OC still owns it. I'd also bet they'd have more lenient payment terms, as medical facilities are very used to that sort of thing.
