I have 5 remaining medical bills on my credit report. Three are paid and two will be paid this week.
The hospital they are from told the CA to remove them from my report as they are paid off. The CA instead reported them as $0. I called the hospital back and they again called the CA and told them to remove them. It has been 2.5 weeks and they have not been removed. When they were first told to remove them it took them 24 hours to update to $0. I don't know if it is truely taking this long or if the CA is just being an A$$ and taking their time.
I am thinking about:
1. Disputing them
2. Asking hospital for letter and mailing to CB but the hospital is not reporting just the CA
or
3. Sending HIPPA letter to CB.
Or should I just wait another week or two? Am I being to anxious? I am down to 6 collections on my report - one ages off in July and than these 5 medical bills which are all less than 2 years old. I know they are killing my score!
Thoughts??
Pay the OC and not the CA. That could help the process.
Basically, that is what happened. The hospital did not bill my insurance correctly and I was waiting on corrected statements in the mean time they they sent to collections not knowing it wasn't filed right. After insurance was filed correctly they made the adjustments. I applied for some financial assistance through the hospital for the remaining amount and was approved. In the mean time the CA was charging interest. Hospital said they can't do anything about the interest that I would have to pay it. So I have been paying it off. Hospital told CA that as I paid off their interest on each ones to delete from the CB. The original amount of these 5 collections were $54,000+. I did not have to pay any of the original amount because between insurance and the hospital forgiving my deductable amount it took care of it. I ended up paying right at $2600 in interest but will soon have that paid off. I have to pay that to the CA as it is their charge and not the hospitals.
I disagree. Since it was the OCs fault, (I am guessing they are the ones that filed incorrectly) it never should have gone to collections in the first place. The OC should have bit that interest from the CA.

I agree but my arguement is falling on deaf ears with the CA.
Regardless, how should I proceed to get these off? I have another call into the CA but they don't like to return my calls. I don't think they are happy that I was able to get the original amount taken care of without them collecting on it. I am just really wanting these last 5 off of my report!
It isn't the CA you need to address it to, it is the OC for filing incorrect collections.
I would write them a letter telling them the OC has requested the TL be deleted and they have failed to honor that.
It may be just as easy to file a complaint with the BBB and see if they can do anything.
So, I called and told them I didn't think I should pay interest and fees on money I didn't pay them. The guy I talked to (who is usually a HUGE A$$) said he understood where I was coming from and said he had to talk to the head of legal and he would get back with me within an hour. Took two hours but he called back and said I am good - my account is settled and I don't owe them!!!
I am officially debt free with the exception of my home!!

I am going to give it 2 weeks. If they are not off in two weeks I am going to send a HIPPA letter to all three CB and a copy of the letter from the hospital saying they should be deleted.
