Medical Collections removal

Hello,

I have been reading around regarding medical collections and I am quite confused. I saw this company reporting on my CR indicating the account updated in 03/2012. I called the hospital because I dont remember what this bill and they said it was for an ER visit in 2003. I never received a bill because they had a very old address. It is past my state's SOL and i dont think this CA should be reporting. Any help will be appreciated. I would like to get this off my CR and I have requested a statement from the hospital.

Re: Medical Collections removal

Can you get the OC to give you something in writing that it was for an ER visit in 2003?

The CA is reporting that the visit was in 2006. If it was in 2003, it shouldn't be reporting.

Re: Medical Collections removal

Write or call the docs office, or look for old statements from 2003.

Re: Medical Collections removal

Yes I called the OC and they said they are sending me a statement for the service which is dated in 2003, another thing is the lady that was pulling up the statement had the wrong address on my old statement which is probably why I never received the bill.

Because the est. date of removal shows 2013, making the DOFD in 2006.

If it were me, I would make sure the balances matched (eliminating the possibility of a 2nd debt). If so, or close, then I'd mail in a dispute to the CRAs with a copy of your CR showing the TL, a copy of the statement from 2003, and a letter of explanation. Tell them it's too old to report. You can always use legalese from the FCRA showing they aren't allowed to report a debt from 2003.
