I have two medical collections on my credit report. Both paid off. Is there anyway to get them off? Please help?
Thanks so much,
Amanda
I recently had 4 medical collections deleted from my credit report. Send them a good will letter like I did and I bet you will have great luck. Just be honest in the letter.
There is a HIPPA process that many people have used to get medical collections removed from their reports. Do a google search on it for more information.

That can work IF the account has not already been sold to the CA. If the OC has only assigned the debt to a CA then an attempt to work first with the OC is a good idea.
Do medical offices sell debts to CA? What would be the point?

It happens all the time. Medical companies will sell the debt to a CA because they will wash their hands of it and will let someone else try and collect the debt.
Assigned? Does that mean that even if the CA is reporting it there might be a chance that it's still just assigned (I'm assuming this means not sold) and the OC can still pull it back? I have several medical collections on my CR that I haven't even started dealing with because I have been trying to figure out the Hipaa process.
Should I first call the OC and ask if they still own the account and if so, can they pull it back if I PIF? Wouldn't this be so much easier than HIPAA?
Did you call the OC to find that out or did you have to DV the CA?
