Hi All, new to the forums and have my first question.
after reviewing my credit reports I noticed something very concerning. a medical bill that showed up as over 20 seperate line items in collections. these do not appear to be duplicates, rather it appears that instead of submitting a total bill to the credit agencies, they submitted each and every office visit individually. yet when i speak to the collections agency representing them about this, they are willing to take a lump payment for all of them. here is my question. is this legal? shouldn't is show up as one bill since its all from the same doctor? I'm concerned that the collection agency is trying to fool me, and somehow I'll end up with all of these items on my report showing settled.. instead of 1. has anyone else ever seen this?
Welcome to the family
I believe you are correct. the CA is willing to accept 1 payment for all 20items.
They didnt say they would change the way its reporting them.
I would suggest sending a PFD letter. It's a letter agreeing that you will pay, if the CA is willing to delete.
Win win for both of you.copy of PFD letter
Mine are the same way. 3 ER visits = 20+ tradelines on my credit report. Because they bill everything seperate (ie- room, x-rays, specialist Dr etc..)
Oh it's maddening I know =( I am in the same point- i feel like i will never get past all of these medical collections. Who would have thought an allergic reaction from eating taco bell that caused me to stop breathing, would result in me not being able to provide a decent home for my children 7 years later... =(
