Midland Verizon

Anyone have advice for 3 verizon accounts with Midland?  Never received notice from them (from 2011) and they just reported collection account this month.

3 Accounts totalling approx. $500     

 I send PFD fbut then read here on the forums that they don't do it.  I know I paid the stupid things to verizon in 2009 -but can't prove it (moved and final bill/closed account, etc) but am willing to pay these off to get rid of them. Should I PIF and then GW Midland?  

Will be applying for a mortgage so if i pay in full is that good enough or do i need to get them completely off my report?

After Midland sent me a settlement offer paperwork, I decided to try Verizon again to find out the truth as I know I paid this.  Well, I did!  The representative on the phone confirmed my account was paid in full with a $0 balance.  So I sent Midland a letter requesting them to delete and attached a letter written by verizon stating the account number, address, name, balance of $0 and paid in full.  I can't believe they would try to collect on a paid in full account... how would they even get that information?  

Have any of you had this happen and how long does it take for them to delete the account from the CRAs?

It happens frequently.  How it happens I have no idea.  At least Verizon was able to find your account and do something about it.
