Good morning! So yesterday I woke up with an alert from myfico of a collections account being reported to Equifax. I was horrified to log in and discover I have an account in collections for $525 for a medical bill with Midwest Recovery Systems. It said the first date of delinquency was from Sept 2015. I can not figure out what it could be from for such a high amount. My husband is active duty marines so I have tri-care. I do not know if anyone is familiar with this but it is excellent insurance. I had a baby and did not pay more then $100 for an emergency csection delivery. So I can not wrap my head around how I could possibly have a bill for such a high amount. With that being said I never had contact made from this company letting me know an account was placed in collections with them. I disputed it with Equifax, I reported them to the BBB and to CFPB. Can anyone please help me? My score literally dropped 40 points and I am devistated as I have been working so hard on inproving it. I was almost in the 700s club. Thank you!!
My advice is to call Midwest. I liertally had the same thing happen to me a few days ago. I've been working on my credit for awhile now and last year was back to having nothing on my credit report. Over this year I've been getting a few credit cards and an installment loan to build it back up. However, I too got a notice and saw that Midwest had reported a payday loan from being in collections. This must have slipped through the cracks when I was cleaning things up.
Anyhow, I called Midwest and they allowed aPay and delete. Basically, I paid what I owed and they will have the credit bureaus delete the collections. They were very professional and helpful.
Tell your husband Semper Fi from a former Jarhead and good luck!
