Re: NCO reporting $0 balance but received bill for $17

I guess my question is how can they legally do that.  Shouldn't their fees already be added to the TL if it legal for them to do so?

Re: NCO reporting $0 balance but received bill for $17

This is iow it was reported immediatly after the dispute in Januaru

Collection on debt to: Time Warner La

The collection agency "496YC03413" was hired to collect a debt of $326 originally owed to "Time Warner La" on account number "XXXXX".
Collection agency496YC03413
Original balance$326
Current balance$309
Date assignedAug, 2012
Original lenderTime Warner La

As of today it is reporting a Current balance $0

I just dont understand. I just want it removed so I might just PFD the measly $17. But if I don't pay can they change it back to me owing a balance?

Re: NCO reporting $0 balance but received bill for $17

I wouldn't think so.  In another thread a CA added another collection for interest and fees when they should have added it to the original one.  OP reported them to the FTC and BBB and it got deleted.

But RobertEG seems to think differently, that they could just update the amount to $17.

I would call them and ask if you pay it will they not report it or change the already closed account to show the balance.
