Need Advice

Hi,

Okay so I am a bit confused on what I should do with a Utility account I have reporting... Here are the details:

Opened:08/2004

Date of Last Acitivit: 02/2007

Date Closed: 08/2006

Account Type: Open account

30 days late60 days late90+ days late

3 times (Jun 2006, Dec 2005, Oct 2005)

2 times (Jul 2006, Jan 2006)

10 times (Feb 2007, Jan 2007, Dec 2006, Nov 2006, Oct 2006, Sep 2006, Aug 2006, Apr 2006, Mar 2006, Feb 2006)

What is the best way to get this removed? My old roommate was SUPPOSED to have been paying it even though it was in my name... So was the lease because she didn't have good credit (looking back I was DUMB i know... lesson learned!!) but she was supposed to be the one paying the gas and then she would also get the mail so she would just not gve me the bill so i never knew it was late...

Any advice on what I can do... it says open account but then again it says closed. I tried GW letters like 2-3 years ago and got no where... Any advice would be great appreciatd...

I would just contact them again and offer your story of why the account wasn't paid. Then, I'd ask if they would remove their reporting from my credit file if I pay in full. It's worth a shot...

Did you even pay it off? You don't mention that.

Yes, I did pay it off back in 02/2007... When does it fall off, DOFD? 7 years from opening, last activity... The account is still reporting monthly...

It will fall off within 7.5 years of the date it was first delinquent, ie the date your roommate first missed a payment.

I hate her more and more everyday.... Being dumb and young (me) should be a reason to remove stuff alone!! lol

Maybe try sending another GW? I know it may seem like a waste of time but I've done this on old paid off collections and CO's and have had success, even years down the road. Since it is paid, and several years older since you last GW'd, they may do it! Won't know until you try! GL!

SO, after like an hour on the phone with the people at People's Energy (in Chicago) basically I have to proove that it should have been in her name (how do you do THAT??) BUT I have a plan of action and perhaps it will work... The supervisor said she would put in a good work for me and some nice notes in the system so maybe that will help... who knows!! Going to send my faxed dispute to their credit department today and hope for the best!
