Some states have enacted their own, more comprehensive, debt validation statutes and regs that require information not required under the federal FDCPA, dont have timeliness provisions, and have required periods for certain actions. Most notable are TX, CA and NY.
If a resident of such a state, you may wish to use their state DV process rather than the FDCPA.
