Im wondering if you ever got things resolved with Amex?
I got nowhere and just waited it out - the tradeline fell off of my credit reports by the end of January. I've confirmed that I'm "blacklisted", as I tried to apply and got a denial due to the fact that they've previously closed an account.
I imagine that if I really wanted to pursue it, I could get them to delete the old account entirely if they're really unable to locate it, but at this point, I simply do not value a new Amex nor am I going to be making a large purchase anytime soon that would warrant a manual review of my credit report.
