I just got a FICO report of my husbands credit. It's not looking good. his score is 476
He has 5 accts in collections.
1 PSEG for $86
2 Club Metro $128
3 Medical bill that says $0
4 Medical bill that's says $0
5 Medical bill that says $460
He also has 2 public Records.
1 Affinity Loan $8000 from 2008
2 a Dentist acct for $300 that we have already disputed and I got a message saying it was gonna be deleted but still shows.
He has one car loan for $11000 that we pay on time for the past year, and one CC $300 limit that we use carefully and also pay on time! But his score keeps getting lower and lower so ours guess is we need to pay off whatever owed. How should we do iT, make settlements and pay minimums? How would that affect his score?
Sorry I'm new to this and my husband is clueless as it gets, I'm from out of the country and have new credit, we plan on buying a house but will only be able if he fixes his mistakes.

PFD

Medical bills are one of the easiest to deal with, ask for PFD, and the $0 ones GW
He also has 2 public Records.
What kind? Judgments? Liens?

+1 The collections are small, you need to try and get a PFD for those. The one I would be worried about is the judgement. This is what needs to be taken care of. You should make the arrangements to pay it, maybe even settle it for less if they are willing. Once it's paid, you can see what the process is for getting it vacated or set aside by contacting the court house where it was filed. All in all, you don't have a lot that needs cleaned, but you need to get on it. Feel free to post any questions or comments on here and we will be glad to help.
Sorry what's PDF?
And the judgements are both Civil! I don't understand why it stil showing he owes the Dentist.
Madman the credit card only shows current every month and the credit has not gone up since we've got it.
The car loan is from last Oct 2011 no late payments. And the CC is from Dec 2011 never late.
But I know last year his credit score was 524 and now is below 500.

Hello and welcome to the Forums. The link above will help you to get familiar with the abbreviations and terms we use here. PFD is a pay for delete, you offer to pay the debt if they will delete it.
As far as the Dentist, just because something is paid does not mean it gets removed from your CR. It was a negative TL and will continue to be such even though paid. Negative information stays on your CR for 7 years from the time the account went bad. So you have to look at how old the accounts are to determine how long they will stay on. Judgements are different, so you have to handle them different.
Thanks everyone for the replies.
I have a couple more questions. Should I write GW letters or dispute an item that isheave been paid but it's still showing?
Also the Loan, if we get a settlement for less and make on time payments will they reportain't as good?
