Need help with Jefferson Capital

I just received a letter from Jefferson Capital on Friday stating they are the servicer of my old Tribute account and offering me three ways to pay my balance of $687. I had this Tribute card in 2008 (maybe even 2007?) and it was closed in 2009 per my credit reports.

I've read on here about the FTC ruling against Jefferson Capital; I know Tribute cards were included and I think I had my card within that timeframe. I'm not sure how to respond to their letter. I'm in Virginia, so I believe this is still within SOL. Should I dispute using the FTC ruling? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to BBB them as well, however I've never done that before.  What did you right?  I had a Tribute card that was charged off in 2008 and Midland is reporting to all three CRB's.

Re: Need help with Jefferson Capital

They can report up to the legal limit of time as long as they own the debt. It doesn't matter if it was charged off. But if it was charged off in '08 it may be time barred from them winning a lawsuit against you. go to creditcards.com and look up your state to see what the SOL is. I can almost guarantee its expired. The BBB is easy. Just google your state and BBB and fill in the blanks.
