I have a forclosure and I disputed a long while back about the past due balance amount since it showed the loan amount. It got fixed and is balance of zero like on the other two TU, EQ. Now I know it would update on EX becuase of it .
BUT.. they are updating it each month and now onEx and EQ they updated that it was a fixed rate loan. nothing else updated but that info , so from 2009 on EQ it has been idel but now they are updating EX and EQ with minor notes to update the account information making it look new each month. What can I do to get them to stop it.
It makes it look new and is killing my score!!
Unless they are reporting something incorrectly or it's past the 7.5 year reporting window the are able to keep reporting the debt, even if it has been paid off. I would try GW letters asking them to remove the account from your CR.
Well since I am not financing anything until it falls off , they can just keep playing their little game :-)
While any continued reporting can be viewed as unecessary if it changes nothing, it can also be viewed as affirmation by the furnisher that the current status has not changed, and is thus accurate and up to date. They are permitted to continue to report monthly.
The only CRA policy related to ceasing updating is for closed and paid accounts, unless a substnative change in informtation actually occurs and thus needs to be reported.
If a closed account no longer has a debt, furnishers are instructed under the CRA reporting manual to discontinue updates.
