Yes, of course.  Any collection account in any status will hurt you.

Well after bugging them some more they responded with

 

"Dear Adam,

The collections agency who your Colorado Springs Utilities bill was
forwarded to was Advantage Group.  They are available at 719-545-2547.

Additionally I have forwarded your email to my manager.  I have asked him
to review your account to determine if we can remove the negative report
from your credit.  He will consult with our credit division to determine if
this can be done.  I will email you as soon as I have heard anything from
them.  I assume they will have an answer for us by weeks end.

There is no Tag Line on my credit report from "Advantage Group"
