Never Will Understand Utilization

Ok, I paid down my credit cards to 1% utilization last month and saw a very minimal raise in my credit score.  Then my utilization jumped up to 20%, so of course my score will go down. That is only logical.   Well.......that logic is wrong.  My score jumped up 18 points on EQ and 16 points on TU.

Can someone please explain how this makes sense?

By the way, I have compared everything on my credit reports and they are the same except for the credit card balances.  There is nothing that has changed, so I know it is just the utilization percentage that caused the point increase.

Starting Score: 583 EQ, 612 EX, 569 TU
Current Score: 658 EQ, 648 EX, 618 TU
Goal Score: 720 EQ, 720 EX, 720 TU

Re: Never Will Understand Utilization

They have to.  When the balances changed, the scores went up.  Everything else is the same on the credit report.  I spent 30 minutes going line by line to make sure something else was not kicking up the score.

Starting Score: 583 EQ, 612 EX, 569 TU
Current Score: 658 EQ, 648 EX, 618 TU
Goal Score: 720 EQ, 720 EX, 720 TU

Was the score from myFICO? (Had to check).

ETA...would you mind looking at and posting the pos/neg items on both reports (before and after...pref. on EQ)?
