New Amex Card

Did a seach here and really could not find a clear answer.

If I apply for and get an Amex charge card and manage to get it backdated ( I had one from 1986-2003, closed in good standing) will it show on my reports  negatively as "getting new credit"??? I ask this because of the positive phrase we see on our reports  "you have not applied for or gotten any new credit in the last........months"

Is a backdated Amex card seen as "new credit" or not because of the backdate???

If it does report as "new credit" does this negative outweigh the positive of increased AAofA??? I only have 5 accounts showing so 25 years of history would help my AAofA a lot.

Re: New Amex Card

Provided it does backdate it won't report as new credit. I opened three new Amex accounts in June and they were all report as opened in 1984. My AAoA as well as my score did increase as a result.

Re: New Amex Card

Do you have to provide the account number or did they have you on record ?
