My credit with equifax is about 500 and the rest show 0
I have a couple dings on my credit.
1. 2600 for apartment that screwed us over.. we were young and they took advantge.. We hired a laywer to dispute it but he sucked and nothing ever happened.. Its a joint account.
2.1400 for a electric bill my mom put in my name when i was 16
This is what i have questions about.. Is there anything i can do about the electric bill without getting my mom in trouble?? I dont get along with her but dont wanna sue her either.. Or should i just start paying it off??

I would attempt the PFD and explain to them you were 16 at the time and not legally responsible for the account. Welcome to My fico

Another option for the utility bill is to contact the OC and explain to them you were a minor at that point. They cannot hold you responsible for the debt. My ex put a utility in our minor son's name. A couple of years later my son (still a minor) started to get collection notices for the bills at my address (have no idea how they ever found our address). I pulled a credit report for my son's ssn, and saw both items on there. I simply called the OC and provided them with a copy of my son's birth certificate. They immediately pulled it from the CR and closed the account. I only knew it was my ex because of the address the utility was at. I did not have to press charges and they did not ask me who could have put the account under my son's name. That may be worth a shot, especially before paying $1400 that isn't your responsibility and taking the continued credit hit.
Good luck!!
