New negative item - Midland Credit Management

I'm not sure how to to about this one. I'm trying to repair my credit with a credit repair service. So far I'm pleased with the results. One recent item has been removed in less than a month but now a new item has appeared - this demon Midland Credit Management on my reports and it's dropped my scores some 20 points.

They said they won't do a pay for delete - and everything I've read about them seems like people have had a lot of trouble getting them off.

The debt is mine. Do I have to suck it up for 7 years?

=(

Has it been paid already? Is the information that they are reporting accurate? Whats the SOL? DOFD?

No it hasn't been paid. I don't want to pay it if it's going to do absolutely nothing. I think the SOL in NC is 3 years - they told me it'd be reported until 2019. I do not know what DOFD means.

Re: New negative item - Midland Credit Management

With that kind of drop off date, the debt would have had to have defaulted in 2012 or so.   This would make it a very recent debt.  You need to get a DV in the mail to them, sent it CMRRR.

Re: New negative item - Midland Credit Management

DoFD is date of first delinquency.  This is the date that lead to the CO or collections and the date used to determine when it will be removed.

Assuming they validate the debt is there anything I can do?

Re: New negative item - Midland Credit Management

They can validate.  But you need to know the DoFD.

If they validate and it is beyond SOL and CRTP, you can send a cease and desist.

Re: New negative item - Midland Credit Management

The DOFD was in 2011. The SOL has not run out...it just got started!  Woman Frustrated
