New to "do it yourself" credit repair

So long story short I have alot of charge offs that are about 2 years old, they are all paid up and most of the collections are not on my record. I have paid people in the past a monthly fee, who only want to charge the fee and not do any work to clean up my credit. I am looking for some help on if there is anything that I can do with the Original creditor, write a letter, or call them to get some wiggle room on how they report to the credit companies.

Any information will help as I am new to all this. Also if you use an acronym can you please give the definition. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!

I'd suggest reading the following:

Common Abbreviations

Credit Scoring 101 - great for knowing what is in your credit score and to see how your score is impacted.

What Steps Do I Take - great for learning the repair process.

and Example letters - PFDs, GWs, DVs, etc.

For paid baddies, try sending a GW letter.
