Hi all,
I'm new here, and just to give you a little information on me, other than what is included in my signature -
Basic Info -
I'm Tony, I am 21 years old, with a credit history of 3 years, 4 months in length - 08/2009
Recently I've been lucky enough to land a job at a Target Distribution Center making enough money to move out of my parents house, finally on my own.
I have 1 account that was put in collections 1 year and 7 months ago, I paid said collection in October, 2011.
Credit Cards -
My main problem right now is my [ CAP1 ] Best Buy Credit Card - $5000 CL [ mother co-signed ] with about $4995 balance thanks to the piracy they use with back charging interest on the accounts. But I digress, no excuses, it's my own fault at the end of the day! This account has been active since 2/2011
I also have a $2000 CL at my local Credit Union with $1800 on it right now, thanks to the costs of moving out [ furniture, decor, etc ] which is now in the sock drawer, only to be paid off and used for gas, just to keep the account alive for years.
Another card is a Capitol One Reward Zone Mastercard [ Best Buy Employee perk when I worked there ] $100 CL with zero balance, opened 6/2010
Goals -
I'd LOVE to take my score to the 700 mark towards the 3rd quarter of 2013. I know this is a long stretch, and more than likely will not happen, but my girlfriend and I are tentatively planning on moving to Texas in October, 2013.
That being said, every bit of my tax returns and my girlfriend's are going towards the Best Buy Credit Card [ hopefully in excess of $2000 paid towards that card ]
I recently applied for a Barclays NFL Rewards Mastercard and was declined, I'm going to call the reconsideration line Monday morning to hopefully reverse their decision, but I'm not sure how that will work.
I hope to utilize this website and the vast amount of information here to boost my credit score as quickly as possible to set up a future for my girlfriend and I in Texas!
Get that util paid down and send a GW for the paid collection. Good Luck!
Just called the Barclays Bank "Back Door Line" for reconsideration, maintained a polite and easy conversation with the gentleman on the phone, and he reviewed my applicaiton and credit report, and informed me [ as I knew was the issue ] that my current utilization was higher than what Barclays sees as an "ideal consumer's utilization". This was something I knew would be a failure on my end, but just wanted to see what information was given to me by them. He also told me the ideal utilization of credit cards would be about 40% where currently I sit around 86%.
Again, I knew all this and just wanted to help out the community so they knew a little more of what their utilization needs to be if they are applying for a Barclays Card and were a little unsure, as I was, if they were to be approved.
So hopefully sometime in early 2014 I will apply for one of these [ more than likely will go with the Barclays Apple Credit Card to get the iMac I desire! ] and be approved!
I'll be mailing out the GW to Account Recovery Services today as well, so hopefully that will go better than my phone call to Barclays!
Thanks for the tips! Keep 'em coming!
Tony
I need a stronger budget plan!
Me too, actually, I just need the DW to follow it!!
